Beyond ABBA is about developing a sense of community. A place where people feel they belong and have a say. It is about opening up new social networks for people with disability to interact with people with & without disability through performance workshops & arts based events. Beyond ABBA is Riverside’s ongoing workshop program & the largest of its kind in Sydney.
Movement & drama workshop series for people with disability
Working alongside professional arts workers people with disability can participate a drama and movement workshop program designed to build self confidence, promote well being, increase skills in performing & self expression. Participants from these workshops have been involved in Invisibility and Wild Imaginings
Each workshop aims to:
- Embrace the contributions of each individual be it as small as a smile or as large as reciting all the lines from an episode of Home & Away.
- Allow for the unique expression of each individual to influence the session and flourish in a supportive, positive and respectful setting.
- Open up the possibility of choice and decision making to give a greater sense of ownership over the workshop for participants.
- Respect all ideas & contributions.

Terms 2, 3 & 4 lead up to a huge movement, text & multimedia based performance this year taking place on Riverside’s mainstage early November. All workshops take place at Granville Youth & Community Centres, 3A Memorial Dve, Granville. Nearest accessible train station is Granville.
Cost is $14/ week paid as an UPFRONT fee at the beginning of the term. Enrolment form and payment must be paid 2 weeks prior to the commencement of each term to secure your place in the workshop.
